They had many appearances, since at that time they were almost the only orchestra in the county and, in accordance with the fashion of the age, played marches, polkas, light opera selections under the leadership of Mihály Szabó and later Lajos K. The majority of our musicians is primary and high-school students, but we have more and more adult members too. We are a band playing in almost every style, there is a plenty of musical pieces to be found on our repertoire from classical music to dixieland.

We have created several traditions in Orosháza: what we are the most proud of is our classical concert given on the foundation anniversary of our town, which is regularly held in the Lutheran Church since 1969. Another pride of ours is the New Year’s Eve Concert, which first took part in 1989 and since then it achieves succes every year. In 2004 we launched the Cities of Spas Brass Band Festival in Orosháza. We perform on many brass band meetings with outstanding success and owing to that we have already been to Poland, Finland, Germany and Romania. We also have a lot of performances in Hungary, generally 40-45 in a year. In the National Qualification of Brass Bands in 2005 we took part in three categories: concert orchestra, marching orchestra respectively show orchestra, and achieved „Stressed Gold Diploma” in all three.

We are proud that our members are all from Orosháza, self brought up young musicians.

Availability

Orosházi Fúvószenekari Egyesület
(Orosháza Brass Band)
Post address: Orosháza, Melinda utca 28. 5900 Hungary

Web: www.ofze.hu
E-mail: info@ofze.hu

Our brass band was established by our elders in 1929 in Orosháza, which is situated in the south-eastern part of Hungary.
